Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an Assembly Technician 1 who provides hands-on labor for support of manufacturing and assembly tasks. Requires high precision production techniques using fragile materials to fabricate space flight hardware. Technician must be self-directed to accomplish scheduled objectives, requiring limited supervisory oversight.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Performs manufacturing duties including cutting and fitting composite details and bonding details into assembly configurations
  • Carries out tasks using basic hand tools including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, scales, height gauges
  • Carries out tasks using conventional rivet shavers, clamping, band saws, and disc sanders
  • Fixturing/Configuring hardware specific tooling for bonded and mechanically assembled components
  • Two-part adhesive mixing using proper mix ratio
  • Injection and surface bonding and required surface preparation
  • Reviews and interprets engineering documentation
  • Responsible for fabrication of composite parts and tooling, general machine shop, hardware assembly, laboratory support
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications:

Education: 
A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years' Experience:  0-2 years of relevant experience
Skills:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes for trim, and assembly of composite and metallic hardware
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to support stringent deadlines and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Capable of lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English and comprehend written work instructions
